Since May of this year, patients at the Fetal Ultrasound Center can also provide blood tests outside the Fetal Ultrasound Center.
The Fetal Ultrasound Center has joined the laboratory analyses digital data system MEDIPOST 2, which gives patients who turn to the blood collection points of the Synlab Estonia Laboratory opportunity to identify themselves by their personal identification code and name. With this data system, patients of the Fetal Ultrasound Center all over Estonia can provide blood tests at all blood collections points of the Synlab Estonia Laboratory. Patients' blood tests are transported from the blood collections points all over Estonia daily to the Synlab Estonia Laboratory in Tallinn, where they are analyzed and then the results are sent digitally to the computer system of the Fetal Ultrasound Center. Joining of the Fetal Ultrasound Center with the MEDIPOST 2 data system is a great help for the patients coming to the Fetal Ultrasound Center for examinations from outside Tallinn. These patients will be able to provide a blood test in their own place of residence during the previous days before coming for the examination at the Fetal Ultrasound Center.
How does providing of blood test outside the Fetal Ultrasound Center take place?
If you want to have an OSCAR test or a risk assessment/reassessment of preeclampsia at the Fetal Ultrasound Center, you must book an ultrasound examination by phone or e-mail with the help of our administrator of the Fetal Ultrasonic Center.
- Blood for the OSCAR test can be provided in the 11th–13th+6 gestational week.
- To assess the risk of preeclampsia, a blood test can be provided in the 19th-22nd and 35th-37th gestational week.
If you want to come to an ultrasound examination the next day, it would be good if you provided a blood test the day before coming to an ultrasound examination. It is recommended to provide a blood test at the blood collection point outside the Fetal Ultrasound Center a day before the ultrasound examination before 13:00. In this case, the analyses reach the Tallinn laboratory on the same day, and we already have the results regarding your hormones for the time of the ultrasound examination. This provides an opportunity to conduct a risk analysis of preeclampsia and OSCAR test after the ultrasound examination during the same visit.
Our administrator will help you calculate the exact size of your pregnancy based on the data you have provided, and therefore recommend a specific date when you could provide a blood test.
After registering you for the ultrasound examination, the administrator will digitally submit an order for the analyses in the Medisoft Liisa program that will be registered in the computer system of Synlab Estonia Laboratory using the MEDIPOST 2 interface.
In order to choose a blood collection point, you can get information from our administrator or, if you wish, find information on our website under "Providing blood tests". You will get to a website where you can find all the blood collection points of Synlab Estonia outside of Tallinn with the address and opening hours.
At the blood collection point, the lab technician identifies you based on your personal identification code and name and learns what kind of analyses are needed to be done.
In the laboratory, no costs will be presented to you for the analyses ordered by the Fetal Ultrasound Center. Costs for these tests are to be paid by you only after the ultrasound examination at the Fetal Ultrasound Center. If you want additional analyses that the Fetal Ultrasound Center has not ordered for you, you will have to pay for it yourself at the blood collection point.
