Pregnancy week by week
Selected week: |
You
You could have gained about five kilograms by today. But one should not worry when the weight has added slightly more or maybe less. During the whole period of pregnancy you could gain 10-15 kilograms. It could occur that you sweat more than usual, the nose is blocked and you need a lot of fresh air. These symptoms are due to the increased blood supply of the body and disappear after birth. Maybe you are one of these pregnant who will have stretching scars. If this is so, then know that these become brighter and unnoticeable after birth.
Your baby
Your fetus weighs now more than placenta. Although its ears are not yet fully developed, it can hear the sounds and can yawn. The baby digests the amniotic fluid to be swallowed and the meconium, i.e. primary faeces is going to form.
The blood circulation of fetus has developed and umbilical cord becomes stronger and thicker to meet the growing needs of the child. During week 17 the adipose tissue will be gathered under skin. This is important for keeping the body temperature. The genitals of the boy and girl are visible.
Dr. Šois recommends
The stretching scars involved with pregnancy cannot be fully avoided, though you can do something for the good of your skin. Try to avoid excessive weight gain, eat healthy and go in for trainings – thus you keep skin elastic. The fact whether the creams meant for stretching scars help or not, is disputable, but the creaming mitigates at least the itching of the stomach.
If the stitchy pain is disturbing in the stomach area, try to sleep on the left side. Thus you favour blood circulation. If this is not helping and the stomach is still in pain, talk about your concerns to your doctor. Although the increased stomach makes it more uncomfortable than before, be sure that you fasten your seatbelt and be convinced that the lower belt will run under your stomach. If required, you can buy a seatbelt pointer specially meant for the pregnant.
If you wish to know whether you are expecting a boy or a girl, why not book a time for 3D ultrasound test to establish the sex of the fetus?
