The result of pregnancy test is positive with high probability by this moment. If you did not feel tired up to now, you might now. Your breast might tingle and back might ache, you could have heartburn, headache or morning sickness. It is also no wonder, if your mood changes are as abrupt as the roller coaster. At the same time it is not impossible that you belong among the women who do not even notice their pregnancy during the first trimester and you will have some concerns only later. Therefore, do not worry if your body is not notifying of the pregnancy besides absent menstruation. Pregnancy is not proceeding similarly by all women. If the already occurred symptoms suddenly disappear, surely consult your doctor or midwife.
Your baby
The development of embryo has been unbelievable within short term: during the fifth week the heart starts beating, the cardiovascular and nervous system is developing, backbone is forming and its brain is now consisting of two lobes. The pear-like fetus of 2.5 mm is already visible in ultrasound. Its rounder end develops into a head and sharper one a backbone. By the week 5 the placenta and umbilical cord have been primitively formed and the latter mediates food and oxygen for the fetus.
What does Dr Šois recommend?
If you are a great coffee friend, reduce your daily dosage of caffeine and drink coffee with milk. Eating often and in small quantities helps to fight heartburn and nausea. In case of tingling breast, try to sleep with supporting bra. If you have a cat, let someone else now exchange its sand in the sandbox. If you eat meat, follow that it would be well-done. You could risk with toxoplasmosis when having contact with cat’s excrement or eating half-raw meat. This is a parasitic disease which is especially hazardous for the pregnant in early stage.
Did you know that starting from the pregnancy week 5 you could have pregnancy detection test to exclude the existence of ectopic pregnancy? It is essential in case of IVF pregnancy, former ectopic pregnancy, caecum operation and sexually transmitted infections.
If you wish to know whether this is ectopic pregnancy, you might be interested in our pregnancy detection and fetal viability assessment.
Why is it important to assess the existence of ectopic pregnancy?
Not all pregnancies develop inside the uterus. In 1% of the pregnancies the fertilization and attachment of the fetus occur outside the uterus, most often in the oviduct. The oviduct is though not meant for the development of fetus, as a result the oviduct could explode during the weeks 6-14 and the life-threatening haemorrhaging might occur. The aim of the ultrasound test is to duly detect the existence of ectopic pregnancy which could rescue the life of a woman in case of due treatment.
